About Us: The Dagwood Dog Guy

The iconic Dagwood Dogs, have been apart of the McDonald Family for well over 100 years.

Starting with my great grand father Bill McDonald, selling fairy floss in Newcastle NSW down by the beach with a kerosine machine. He was very well known in the area for his sweet treats.

My great grandparents Bill & his wife Mary then went onto sell Fresh cream Waffles, Toffee Apples, Fairy Floss & Dagwood Dogs in square tents at agricultural shows far & wide.

My Grandfather Bob McDonald married Jackie Holder who, also a young traveling show woman started up their own food tent, then onto food trailers.

They travelled by the show train into North Qld, NSW and across the Nullarbor Plains & back again selling what they know best, the ever so popular "Traditional show food treats."

I'm now known as "The Dagwood Dog Guy" I'm now fifth generation traveling showman, and have taken over the family business with my wife Alicia and young family operating our grandparents trailer that has been handed down to us by my grandmother Jackie in recent years.

I started out by standing on milk creates when I was just four years old,  wanting to help work & have been dipping Dagwood Dogs since I was ten years old. I've always loved to help operate my grand parents food trailer, there is just something special that comes with working to the crowds & watching the families enjoy their time at the shows.

Some of my most favourite memories are from working at all major agricultural & smaller shows including Sydney Royal Easter Show, Ekka, Cairns, Grafton Jacaranda Festival, Tully, Lismore & Glen Innes just to name a few. These are shows's that I still now continue to work at to this day.

It's something I just loved to do. I'd like to some day be like my late grandfather Bob, and make him proud with following in his families rich show tradition. I hope my children, will too also continue to take over the family business one day.

Everything is made fresh on premises no frozen pre- made Dagwood dogs.

I only sell my hand stuck, hand dipped fresh piping hot Dagwood dogs as well as other show food treats straight to you!

It's all ready to take on the go at your convenience.

You can find us at one of our locations to see what all the hype of our delicious, piping hot Dagwood Dogs is all about.

See you at the show!
